Cosplay Whose Line is it Anyway? Come ‘make some noise’ in Whose Line Is It Anyway! Join our improv team in some good old merriment and whimsy; sign-ups are available, and audience participation is encouraged!

Cosplay Shark Tank Watch your favorite characters try their luck in the world of business! Join us as your favorite characters pitch weird and wacky business ideas to the cosplay sharks. Will they get a deal? Who knows! But I bet it will be funny! Based on ABC’s Shark Tank.

Inter-Fandom State Alchemist Exam Ever wondered if your favorite characters could make it as a state alchemist? Well wonder no more! The state alchemist exam comes to Portcon, but with a twist. Applications are open to characters from all over, from webcomics to anime. Join us and watch your favorite characters strut their stuff in difficult challenges, to prove they have what it takes to make the cut.

Cosplay Lip-Sync Battle Come and join us this year for another Lip Sync Battle event. You decide which of our 16 contestants will be crowned the next Lip Sync Battle champion. So, think Death Match, but dancing and Lip Syncing and much less death.

Cosplay Who-Dun-It? This new Cosplay Game is a twist on the classic board game Clue and puts your favorite characters feet first into a Murder Mystery Game! A team of investigators will race to solve the dastardly deed as they are drip-fed information from the sly squad of suspects. Will they be able to work it out before it’s too late? Come find out Whodunnit!

Cosplay Dating Game After Dark (18+) Ever wondered how odd pairs ended up together? No? Well great! There’s a whole event dedicated to the weirdest ships your little odd heart desires. Denji x Tsunade? Zenitsu x healthy coping skills? Just come on down and find out!

Saturday Events

Cosplay Dance Battle Wanna show off the fact that you can dance? Maybe you can’t dance and just wanna get on stage and be silly? S.I.Y.P Squirrels in your pants? Come on over and watch or be apart of Portcon’s Dance Battle!

Cosplay Masquerade Come watch as cosplayers join the stage and showcase their works and talents. Cheer them on as they walk, dance, and battle their way across the stage.

Cosplay Dating Game It’s the Dating Game! Finding love (or even friendship) as a main character of a fantasy world is hard. So hard that these lovely characters from different backgrounds have been isekai’d to the front stage of PortCon to find their match! Three out-of-view contestants will be asked questions by a mysterious character looking for true love. Snappy, witty, and cutesy answers will lead to the selection of one contestant to be paired with this mysterious being! Come watch as love unfolds

Sunday Events

Cosplay Death Match Death Match is back for another year! Two characters/groups enter, but only one will reign victorious. Whoever the crowd cheers the loudest for, will win and move onto the next round. Who will be this year’s champion?

Children’s Cosplay Contest Availability for Children ages 0-13. Does your child have a costume and want to show it to everyone? Does your child want to go up on stage? The Children’s Costume Contest is a fun and friendly setting for just that. There will be prizes, and fun all around.

Cosplay Masquerade Information

PortConMaine has a friendly and active cosplay community, all of whom are invited to participate in our Cosplay competitions! We run a cosplay masquerade during the afternoon on Saturday, as well as a Craftsmanship competition that has judging times throughout Saturday morning.

PortConMaine is a family friendly event and our cosplay competitions are rated PG-13. An adult must attend anyone below the age of 18. We ask that you keep this in mind while designing and building your costumes. Please ensure that your costume is not offensive and that none of your naughty bits are showing or discernable. The South Portland city ordinances outline that “naughty bits” include the buttocks, nipples as well as genitalia. We reserve the right to ask attendees to modify or change outfits at any time if we deem them to be inappropriate. Cosplay Guidelines:

  1. Cosplay should cover any body parts that aren’t appropriate to be displayed.
  2. Crop tops/ Bikini tops, shorts are appropriate.
  3. Absolutely no bare feet are allowed. Shoes (including flip flops) are to be worn at all times during con. No exceptions.
  4. Weapons must be visibly fake (orange tip) and checked in when first wearing costume on convention floor. If weapon is not checked in, PortCon staff has the right to ask for the prop to be either checked in or put away.
  5. Any confusion or concerns, please reach out to the convention at portconcosplay@gmail.com
  6. Any worn body paint must be sealed. No exceptions.

Craftsmanship Guidelines:

  1. To be considered for entry, the character must exist in either Anime, TV, books/Novels, any form of media (Movie and or video game if both apply), manga/comics. 
  2. Weapons must be checked in before the event.
  3. Costumes must abide by convention guidelines.
  4. Costumes must be made by the entree (at least 80%). Anything not made by entree will not be counted when judging takes place.
