When signing up for an event, please be sure to include any tech requests at the bottom of the panel submission form. If you forget to submit a tech request just let us know what you’re missing and we’ll do our very best to take care of you. Main events, as well as the panel rooms, will have dedicated tech staffers during all open hours of the convention.

Is there WiFi?
There is WiFi at the hotel but, there will be hundreds of people trying to use it. WiFi won’t be a reliable way to stream any kind of video or audio during the convention. Cellular Data connections are also not recommended because of the number of attendees with mobile devices that attend PortCon. If you use WiFi of Cellular tether, there's probibly going to be lots of waiting for slow downloads or buffering. Please try to download any web based content prior to running your event, this will help provide the best possible experience for you, as well as the attendees. Please be sure you have permission from the owner of the content you’re using. Tech is there and happy to help you with whatever media and methods you choose.

Bringing your own Laptop, Tablet, etc?
Please be sure to let us know what kind of laptop or tablet you’ll be using at your panel. While we have access to most video adaptors, it’s best if you provide your own. The projectors used at Portcon have Composite, Component and VGA connectivity. (HDMI is also available in Main Events) In order to support your needs we ask for the following information in advance. We need to know the brand and model of your device. (This is especially critical for Apple Devices.)

Microphones:
Panel Rooms will have one live microphone unless more have been requested. Each panel room supports a maximum of 4 live mics. Connections for audio from a computer or mobile device are also available.

Connecting your audio sources:
For those needing to plug into a PA system, please ask Tech first. Any audio source connected to a live PA system needs to be handled carefully. For anyone who will be connecting and disconnecting multiple times during an event, please remember to mute your audio first. You will have access to a live tech on a sound board, please warn them when you are connecting or disconnecting. Following this rule will save our speakers, and everyone’s ears.
