Newbury Comics Sponsored Mall Costume Parade & Contest! PDF Print E-mail

Newbury Comics has partnered with PortConMaine and the Maine Mall to create a truly spectacular event opportunity for attendees of PortConMaine 2012! Saturday, June 23rd, there will be a costume parade and contest in the Maine Mall for anyone and everyone who dresses in costume for this year's event!

At 10:30AM on Saturday interested attendees will line up outside of the convention by the main entrance. At 10:40AM we will begin our parade march across the street to the Maine Mall- entering by the Sears Entrance to march through the mall and past the new location for Newbury Comics! The parade will end in Garden Court: where there will be a stage and area set up for the presentation of costumes. 

Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and everyone is welcomed to attend. There will be con attendees and mall crowds as people show off all their hard work and fan favorite characters!

The costume contest will take place Saturday at 11AM in the Maine Mall!

Common Questions & Answers:

  • Do I need a skit to participate? No. This will be a fashion show style contest with no skits or songs from the costumed attendees.
  • Will people need their con badges to view the contest? No. This event is open to the public at large. If they intend to return to PortCon and other events after at the hotel, they will then need to register at the convention if they are not already registered. 
  • Do I need to be dressed in a specific costume? No. All costumes are welcomed as long as they are all age appropriate. You do not need to be anime only. All fandoms are welcomed in this geek culture community friendly event. 
  • What are the prizes? Newbury Comics is sponsoring all the prizes, so if you're super curious why not swing by and see them for the answers? There will be three top prizes and potentially some runner up goodies as well. 
  • Do I need to have entered the Cosplay to do this? No. This is a completely separate event from the Cosplay.
