2012 Feedback
« on: June 28, 2012, 07:27:51 PM »
Let me just start off by saying all of the attendees were awesome this year. You guys are what makes us as epic as we are by donating games and systems to us. I also wanna thank my staff for their great work this year, as well as Palace Playland and Coast City Comics for the amazing donations. It is sad but Portcon 2012 is over and we must now wait till 2013 for another 4 days of awesome. So let's start off with some feedback to take our minds off Post Con Depression.

1.What did you guys like the most this year?
2.What did you like the least?
3.What should stay the same?
4.What do you want to see in 2013?

Remember we are a convention for the people by the people , what you ay is important information for myself and the other chair of the Video Game Room. We would love to hear what you have on your mind from this year as well as ideas for next year. Once again everyone thank you for such an amazing year and we can't wait to see you all again in 2013!

1. Pinball and Paperboy.
2. Too many Nintendo consoles, need more SEGA.
3. The room set-up is great.
4. Maybe have a handheld lounge in a corner, so people can play their handhelds outside of the hallways? Not sure if feasible.

1: All the fighting game tournaments!
2: Agreeing with the post above, too many nintendo consoles.
3: The Dreamcast, Touhou 12.3 and the general layout of the room
4: More arcade games, games for the Dreamcast, and perhaps signs near the systems listing off which games are available to choose from.
2012: Blue Castle Crasher
2013: Charlie Nash (Street Fighter Alpha)

1. More space to move around, lots more games and different kinds.
2. Had to actually pay for DDR, and practically couldn't play Rock Band /at all/ because we couldn't hear it over the music being blasted at the desk, or at any other time, even at max volume. I think that's why it bombed so bad this year, but I was glad it was up.
3. More than one Smash Brothers set up, that was a really good idea (even outside tournament times).
4. I may or may not be the only one who actually wants to see a Just Dance (and its other versions) set up, maybe in the DDR corner. Needs a Wii and a few controllers, super fun. :3 Couldn't hear a damn thing in the video game room, ever. I would like to see the video game room and the board game room (area) switch, to be honest, or a bigger room overall for sound and flood control more than anything.

1: All the fighting game tournaments!

Fighting Games have become extremely big at the Portcon VG Room, thanks in part to my friends coming in with their arcade sticks and showing off some amazing play.  You can bet that I'll be running as many FG tournaments as I can!

I know that it's petty, but I prefer DDR 8th Mix to ITG.  The room could also benefit from phasing out some single-player games in favor of multi-player ones.  But that may just be me injecting personal preference into the whole thing (as if there were any other way).

Other than that, the head-to-head SSB Brawl "ladder" was really fun.
Cons attended (and cosplays done where noted):

PortCon 2002
PortCon 2004
PortCon 2005
PortCon 2006- Gendo Ikari
PortCon 2007
PortCon 2008- Duo Maxwell
PortCon 2009- Eddie Blake/Comedian
PortCon 2010- Captain Hammer
PortCon 2011- Scott Pilgrim
PortCon 2012- Jim Raynor
