How to Take Commissions: Making Money from Your Art!
« on: April 13, 2012, 02:27:40 PM »
Hey all! I sent in my application for a How to Take Commissions panel so I wanted to post here and see if anyone is interested in this sort of panel.

Basically the panel is an intro to taking commissions and getting paid for making art.  I review how to know if you're ready to take commissions, how to set up commission info, how to market yourself, how to price you work, and lots of other useful things based on my experience and the experiences of my artist friends.  If the panel gets approved, I will be looking to get a few more artists to jump on board with me and help answer some of your questions from our different perspectives.

The goal of the panel will be to help new or younger artists figure out if they are ready and get them started.  I ran this panel at AAC 2011 for the first time and had a great time with it. Hoping to improve upon it and beef it up with some more photos and visual examples.

Let me know if this is a panel you'd be interested in coming to and if you have any topics you'd really like to see covered.  :-D

What kinds of commissions is this geared toward? It sounds like it's mainly for artists who do... um. art? (Darn my lack of sleep!) ^o^
I guess what I'm asking is will sewing commissions be covered? (some of us consider that to be art as well..) Or will it mainly be like drawings, sketchings etc.. (I know virtually nothing about that type so I don't really know how to use words. :p )

I'm going to stop now... ^p^
