2012 Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament
« on: March 26, 2012, 09:53:12 PM »
I ran the tournament last year and was happy both with the turn out as well as the attitudes of most of the people who came to play.  For those of you who went or that play the Yu-Gi-Oh card game, what would you like to see new or different this year, assuming you want another tournament?

I think an original deck showing/duel (maybe just on the side) would be cool. I have one myself and I would be really interested to see some others.

about 3 weeks before the con, Battle Pack: Epic Dawn is scheduled to be released. A sealed side event would be ideal depending on the turn-out. This will be my first at the con so I have no idea what the turnout is like.

Apparently I dragged my feet a bit too long and someone else is running a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament this year, but there are no details. Hopefully it will turn out as well as last year though.

(Feels like I haven't posted here in forever... >.>)

So, uhh... yeah. Totally gonna be there again this year. Still actively working on a deck, but should have one completed by the time that con comes around.

Also, I feel I should mention this.

Draft packs will be released by the end of this month.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Battle_Pack:_Epic_Dawn

Typical rule with Yugioh draft is that I ASSUME it will be either traditional format list or even no list at all, on a count of the appearance of Raigeki, Feather Duster, DMoC, Pot of Greed, etc.

A draft like this will get more people interested in playing, even those who don't have a deck of their own.

I especially like the card roster for this new Battle Pack because, while it will be in a format that hasn't seen official tournament play in many, many years, every single card in the set can be, more or less, used in conjunction with every other card in the set, with VERY few exceptions. It would definitely be very fun to run and play, if we could snag a couple of boxes of this set for a draft tournament. Obviously, there would be a moderately high entry fee ($15-20 each), but the cards would be kept by the players and there would (hopefully) be some nice prize support to boot.
