Quick question about a prop

First off, I apologize now if I posted this in the wrong place, I'm a bit nervous posting on forums, but to get on with my question.

I'm gonna be attempting to make a staff for a cosplay that's pretty obvious who I'm going as and I was wondering, are 4inch Red mirrior balls okay? I read the rules of props and what not soon after my boyfriend ordered it for me and I started getting really concern. I just want insight on it if it will be okay or not. I do have a back up plane if it wouldn't be wise to use the red mirror ball though.

I'm guessing you're hoping to use this as the orb in Xellos's staff?  So long as it's not so heavy that you can't keep your staff under control, I should think it's fine.  Stainless steel orb is not quite "live steel" the way a sword would be considered live steel.  It's got no sharp edges, it's shatter proof so it wouldn't create sharp edges.  Just be sure that the finished prop is a manageable weight, and that you get it peace-bonded.
