Nope.  Haven't lived in Maine since 1995.  Got kicked out for not liking lobster, hockey, or Stephen King.  Apparently there's some law that you have to like at least one of those or they won't let you live there.

I don't like lobster or stephen king.... hokey is just on a list of blood sports I enjoy, so I can't validate that I truly like it. yet, here I am, in the middle of portland

Psssshh, Hockey is only a southern Maine thing.  If you go up to true Maine very few play.  Mostly because the schools can't afford it, but still.

I might as well get kicked out.. i can't stand any of those 3 things and one of them would kill me.

I live in Biddeford and don't hate it so much down here. 20ish minutes to Portland and everything we need is right in town. We're hoping to move to Saco in the next couple years as the schools are better there. But otherwise. I'd say down here isn't 1/2 bad.

Ok, yay for lifes confusion! Now, I'm planning on moving to Maine... yea I know.... I don't change my mind cause I want to it's cause I have to...
Anyway!!! I'm needing some help to find an apt or something that accepts small dogs (i have one dachshund) thats not really expensive. It doesnt have to be in Portland just in the general area. I will be moving up there in August so that James can start school and not have to transfer in the middle of the school yr from Jersey to Maine. Any help would be awesome.

I was born in Lewiston and lived there for over 21 years.  ...so as someone who has spent so much time in Lewiston/Auburn, I can tell you DO NOT MOVE THERE.

I live in the sticks of Auburn, within 5 minutes of Walmart and every other thing I would need, but I don't get the hoodlums of the dirty Lew. I will say for me anyways they are VERY different places, and I will also say I haaaaaaaaate Lewiston. >_<

What type of house renting/apartment is there in the good areas?

Ours is income based. Rather nice but dont let the ad fool you there are no carpets, basements or laundry hookups.
But in the country (with an apple orchard AND an ice cream shop at a stones throw distant along with a natural food store up the street) it's rather nice.
