ADULTS! What panels do YOU want?

A lot of the fans that have been around for 10 or so years are getting older than when they first started enjoying the fandom. Regarding this point, we really want to include some more adult oriented panels. I'm not talking 18+, I'm talking panels that are useful and interesting to the adult crowd. I don't want to fill our evening programming with porn and carnage, but I do want to give the older audience something to hook onto.

So.

Anyone? Suggestions? What are YOU looking for in your panels? :)

We'll see if we can work around it and get some panel ideas/guests based on your interests. :)

What about some sort of... ya' know, this is a hard one. Bingo? That's about as adult as you can go. xD But really, maybe a Meet New People panel. As we get older, we all know it gets fairly hard to make new friends with the same interests. So maybe a panel where we put people in groups to do random activities... like bingo!

I'd actually like to discuss things related to aging in the fandoms. For instance, what kinds of lolita are good for older people? What kinds of cosplays are better for older people? Maybe some sort of panel where we reminisce on our "weeaboo" phases and tell stories of the kinds of crazy things we used to do because we still hadn't learned better. I know I'd have a few stories to tell, and I'm hardly old.

maybe talking about nostalgic stuff. Like what we did when we where kids. Like what kinda cartoons we used to watch, what games we played. Show some of the young kids what we had when we where growing up.

I'm hearing a meet up/ice breaker/mixer activity and then something where people get to reminisce about the past/what they did/share stories, etc. So maybe another ice breaker-mixer like activity. Got it :) Thanks for the suggestions!

Clearly a panel named "Back in my Day"

Getting older? Well have no fear. This panel allows those of past Portcon's to gather and talk about what they used to do back in the day.

Bless your little hearts. Awesome! So, two words. Star. Trek. TOS. met Gene Roddenberry in '74 when I was in college. Does this make me the fan prime?  :-D

I know my friend Doug has run a panel called "The Aging Otaku" before. It kind of is what it sounds like. He and I were going to run it last PortCon but there weren't any openings left. Maybe we'll submit it this year?

But in all seriousness, how about a panel supporting the birth of geekdom? From the origins of DC and Marvel to Dungeons and Dragons to Pong to the Apple II to the Atari 2600 all the way to the SNES.

Well researched this could be fun. Maybe include some sort of interaction, not sure how, but definitely a cool idea :)
