Musical Sing-a-long panel
« on: November 16, 2011, 06:57:06 PM »
So I am thinking about running a musical sing-a-long panel this year. And so while I am in the making of it what musicals would you like to sing to!

Wicked
Mama Mia
Les Miserables
Company
I Feel Pretty - from Flower Drum Song
Avenue Q

THere are also a lot of Disney Musicals now like Mary Poppins, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, etc. Those could be fun.

There are a lot of other songs that are popular songs, but the musicals aren't as popular as the songs are. Let me know if you need any more. How far back are you looking to go for songs and popularity with people that people would know.

Thanks! I was going to stay away from disney tho, because last year there was a disney sing-a-long and I dont want to steal anything form them. I want to try to keep the songs generally popular so that way people know them,

A great idea for a panel! I thought so ever since missing the opportunity to sing along to "Zydrate Anatomy" at Portcon last year by a few minutes...

I also suggest Nightmare Before Christmas, especially Oogie Boogie's Song. My favorite!
"Oh Please, Warping the minds of men and shepherding the masses has always been your Church's domain. You lure sheep with empty miracles and a dead God." Vagrant Story - Sydney Losstarot

"Fire! Fire! Heh-heh-heh..." Final Fantasy VI - Kefka Palazzo's Retainer

Legally Blonde.  Spamalot. Mamma Mia. Evita. Jesus Christ Superstar.

Yeah that's right, Legally Blonde.  You got a problem?  Cos I'll tell ya, hoss, something happens to me when that title track finally kicks in.  I turn into an Elle Woods Emotional Monster.  I will belt out LIE ON THE BEACH, DREAM WITHIN REACH, DON'T STRAY BEYONNNNND like a goddamn headliner.  I will let my voice give a heartbroken crack on "Some girls were just meant to smile..." in a way that make you go GODDAMN IS SHE GON' CRY?  And maybe I will.  Maybe I will, hoss, cos you know what, life aint fair sometimes.  No matter how much Emmett wants her to stay.

Yeah hoss.

Yeah.
