Miniatures 2012
« on: September 29, 2011, 12:09:12 PM »
Hello all,

I thought I'd start the ball rolling with forum information about the Minis room this year early (as I resolved to help the Minis room have more of a presence on the forums).

These are the games currently listed that will definitely be run this upcoming year:

Dungeons and Dragons Minis
Star Wars Minis
Heroclix
Warmachine

These are the games that we had last year that will most likely be returning:

Starship Troopers
Confrontation
Axis+Allies/Godlike
Pulp City
Death Race
Anachronism
Pirates of the Burning Sea

These are the other games we know of that we'd like to see appear if anyone knows someone willing to run them:

Warhammer 40k
Warhammer Fantasy
Hordes
Lord of the Rings Heroclix
Mage Knight
Battletech/Mechwarrior

If you have an interest in any of the games (either as a player or as someone who might be interested in running an event) please make note of it here! In addition, if you can think of any other games not currently represented here please let us know.

Additionally, if any of you have any suggestions for ways to improve the minis room this year let us know here!

Thanks,

Ian Ashland (Dekall) PortCon Maine Mini's room Staffer! :D

Hello, my name is Michael, and I'm the Minis chair. First off, I'd like apologize for my lack of presence on the forums; my life has been rather heckit these last few months, and I haven't had much free time.
That said, I would like to officially get started with planning for PCM12. Now, I agree with Dekall has said about what games we will likely see, and right now I am working on getting a table layout figured out, so we will have a better idea on what we can plan for. So those who are interested in running events for games, please feel free to post here and let us know.

Hey this is Thomas, I'm officially on staff for minis this year though I've run Warmachine unofficially the last few years.  I am debating running it again since it had such a poor turnout the last two years.  What I am really excited to run is Dust Tactics.  Its a sci-fi World war Two in 1947 with walkers instead of tanks!  I've scrounged up a significant collection with enough for 3 players on two sides (total of 6).  for a big scenario at the con.  The best part is the game mechanics are so simple they can be learned completely in minutes and mastered in an hour.  This is a very visually appealing game that's great for new players to join in at the con and not be confused by lots of rules.  I'm very excited to bring this to the Con!

I'm also planning to build a massive board for Steve Jackson's OGRE game and run that a few times but that is still in the works and not a grantee at this point.  Any way those are the two things I got planned for the con so I figured I'd share them.  Looking forward to the big weekend.

Last year I didn't realize the wonder of Warmachine but after watching my good friend Thomas play a few times during PortCon I soon found I was on the brink of some new discovery in life. Then, I played and I was lost in a world of Iron and steam. Ah how time flies. In any case, I am looking forward to at least attempting to play this year. Looking forward to it!

Hey everybody, Nathan here. As in the past years, I will be bringing Anachronism, Confrontation, and Star Wars minis. I also have Axis and Allies miniatures with our own house rules that combine the One Role Engine used in Godlike. I think James, Dom, and I would be willing to run that as well if there is any call for it but there hasn't been much support in the past, which is fine. I'm definitely excited for the combined room and a bit more of a connectedness between the gaming groups. I've got some new exciting Confrontation minis to show with more in the mail so they will def be here before the con, unlike last year. Hope to see you all soon.
