Yes, I also thought it was like FMA when I got the first book... But I haven't gotten that far into FMA to notice any further similarities.

I love D. Gray-Man. I only read the manga, and I'm only up to volume 11 as it comes out in the US, but I'm really enjoying it and I'm planning to cosplay from it someday. I think Allen is a wonderful character, but I also love Kanda. I want to see the anime sometime so I can compare it to the manga, but it's a lot harder for me to get my hands on anime (manga being less expensive). I'll probably watch it in Japanese if I can get it, but I might watch some sample clips of the dub to see if it lives up to standards. XD

I hate it when animes do that. They go good for about 7 seasons and then the drop the big F--- you bomb and decide to stop airing it. They sit on their asses and say, hey, I know, lets make them go through all the joys of re-reading the manga just so we can continue the story and give the manga drawers something to do. As done in other animes like... Beserk and FMA, but not really FMA because they just came out with the new and shiny FMA Brotherhood, a reincarnation of a good anime that rushes through all of the old episodes to get to the new content, something I have not been so much enjoying because of all the episodes in the previous version, even though it was sh--, it was very much well spread out and at the right pace as all animes should be. I mean, I suppose if you have never seen the anime before it seems as if its going at a normal pace but for those who do know the plot it seems as if they are going through it at light speed. Oops I started ranting on something that isnt even related to this thread. Sorry! My favs of D Gray man are Timcampy and Tyki Mikk. SPOILER AHEAD!! Oh and Crown Clown  (the actual person, not his innocence, but the person Crown Clown that only got a few brief moments of air time when the Earl was thinking about his old colleague)
