Expressing emotions in anime
« on: May 26, 2011, 08:34:19 AM »
That is something that just drives me crazy in anime...the unspoken emotion. So many anime have it the 'I can't possibly tell them how I feel' scenario. It takes numerous episodes for characters to finally say something, could you imagine how short some anime would be if they would just say something!?
There are also the 'what? no I can't like them, it's not possible! Argh why can't i stop thinking about them!!',those are generally very funny though. The characters can do such odd things to try to prove to themselves it's just some weird occurance.
It's also amazing to see how different things are when it comes to how respectful they are to each other. Only really close people use first names, holding hands is a huge deal, it's all very sweet. Over here unless you're making out with someone it seems that there is no connection.
Yea this is a mooshy type post, but I'm thinking we all have at least one anime that does one or all of the scenarios of emotional expression.

Two that I like that do that are Cardcaptor Sakura and Peach Girl. Which anime do you like that have that stuff, is that one of the things that you wait excitedly for, or is it just something that annoys you?

Now come on, don't hold back that emotion! :P

''Maybe if we're together you'll get to see me graduate''
''If? I would love that'' <3

I want you to be happy, for the rest of your life.- Kairi Okayasu

That's actually why I can't stand a lot of anime. Too much teenage angst. Don't want to watch a whole show about a whiny kid mope about how he can't express his true feelings to someone.

Junjou Romantica is full of unspoken and spoken intense acts of expression.
