Still slightly unsure,..
« on: May 02, 2011, 08:42:17 AM »
Privet, i am cosplaying russia and I have just finished a rather well done pipe, but I want to make sure it is within regulation. Its made of pvc and hollow, but my real concern is the end. i went to Home Depot and purchsed a spout that is metal. it is very secure, ( taking two people to effectivly unscrew it) and can be secure even further with super glue if needed, I'm not going to get it taken away because of the end, am I?

your best bet to know for sure ahead of time is to contact nephilistic.  send him a pic and he would have the final say on wither it can pass or not.

if the metal piece is small, light and smooth it may be fine.  i know toy pistols with small metal parts have been allowed.

again this is just my opinion.  i only have the final say in that you cant boff with it :)

not seeing a pic I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like it SHOULD be ok. The policy is more directed at things that are easily dangerous. Small metal parts that aren't on an edge should pass a check.
Just ask yourself "Is it something the police of TSA would be concerned about if I got searched?" If you have the slightest reservations about answering "No." then it might be a problem.

I'm pretty sure most TSA workers would take a look at a lot of cosplay props and ask questions.  :Drop:
