Selling/Commissioning animations
« on: April 26, 2011, 09:06:17 PM »
Hey guys!
This past weekend I was at Anime Boston in the artists alley.  I'm trying to start something new and hopefully exciting..the ability to commission an animation or buy an animation!
I'm in the process of moving to a new DA account/youtube/gmail etc to keep things more organized but my current deviantart is here:

You can also check out the animations I made for the Anime Boston 2011 preshows!:

anyways with animations,
It works almost the same as commissioning a print, only you would be getting a moving picture.

For instance you could ask the following:
I'd like my original character(or favorite anime character):
-walking
-doing the caramel dance
-doing the leek spin
-turning and looking towards me(we call this a 'head turn')
-looking into the distance with his/her hair blowing
-kissing so and so

The possibilities are endless, but I thought I'd finally make a thread to get as many opinions on this as I can, ideas, and just thoughts on what you might like to see, what you might want for an animation, etc.

I know a big question that may come up is:
"How do I get my animation?"

Unlike prints you can't roll it up and bring it home. It's also not something that can be printed.
My plan for this is, for animations that are bought on the spot from the selection I have, they'll be burned onto a CD+R at no cost to the buyer and given a sleeve with it as well.

For people who commission animations the same thing would happen, but they would have their files mailed to them.
On top of getting a cd, the files would be mailed to them in a .zip folder.

Included on the cd will be a series of files:
.avi
.mov
.mp4
and .gif depending on the animation

The plan is that people can take these animation and implement them into their personal profiles on gaia, LJ, MYSPACE, Deviantart, and anywhere else they can think of as long as the watermark remains.

So I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this :)

Thanks!
