2011 VG Chair Needs Ideas

Hello all! I'm going to be the VG room chair next year. You may remember me as the guys who sold Lego for a couple years.

I don't have a lot of specific details from previous years, so I've been looking over the forums seeing what people are interested in. If there is anything you would like to comment on about what you'd like to see (brought back from previous years? changes from previous years?), let me know here. I welcome input on games, room layout, tournaments, scheduling, number of TV/systems, and pretty much whatever. I'll keep looking in the other threads for ideas as well.

Finally, please please please check out the thread on donations here: http://portconmaine.com/forum/index.php?topic=2607.0 and let me know what you can bring. We would really appreciate any games, systems, or TVs that you can provide--we're on a budget, so if you guys don't bring stuff, there won't necessarily be a lot to play (of course, I'll do everything I can to bring in donations and loaners from elsewhere as well).

I hope this can be a great year for video games!

Ok, so I'm seeing some views, but no responses... I know that PortCon's still 6 months out, but I'm trying to be on-the-ball.

Soon I will be posting a tentative list of games for 2011. That will give everyone a chance to yell at me if they think something's missing or something's unnecessary. It will also force people to respond if they want their game played (or be quiet about it later  :-D).

Another reminder to please look into the donations thread!

Why, hello there, video game room chairman!  I'm going to be a new staffer this year, and I'll be able to donate a few things for the room.  I've got an Xbox360 with a couple of controllers and lots of Fighting games (I don't have Blazblue, however), and will most likely get MvC3 and MK9 as well.  I can run every Fighting game tourney if needed, as I have plenty of tournament experience with Fighters.  Hopefully, I'll be able to donate a TV, but that doesn't seem likely.

In the meantime, I'll do what I can to help out.  Just send a message my way!

I think we should find a way to do SNES Mario Kart tournaments this year.

Also, random fighting game tournaments are always fun, because let's face it, anyone can be skilled at one game, but how will they fare at 5?

I filled out the donations page and listed what I could bring, so my suggestions for a tournament would be based around those really. Marvel vs Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter 4, Naruto Storm 2 being the stand outs in my mind.
