I just got done watching .Hack//Sign for my secong time and I dont have the entire anime on dvd so i watched it online and it was fansubbed,it was different fansubs occasionally and wow i never knew how bad it can really be.With the .Hack fansub;this isnt huge but the char Krim was Cream and Karim...those are 2 that i remember out of i think 4-5 versions of his name. Not to mention a couple times entire lines were missing.A couple times it looked like the just wrote out what it sounded like the char said, which looks odd and nonsensical sometimes  Tongue .Some fansubs are good, you dont really notice...or i never did before.

How have your fansub experiances been ?

Fansubs vary from group to group. I like my anime fansubs in HD and as little artistic changes as possible. Karaoke openings are nice, but any other changes (such as putting subs over signs and whatnot) annoy me. I can understand the name issues sometimes, especially if the names are non-Japanese. It's not always easy to know what a name is the first time you hear it (I have this problem with some dubs, and that's in my native language!) But, in the end, a fansub is done for free and you shouldn't expect too much from them.

However, if you want a laugh, watch Hong Kong bootleg subs (No really, don't put yourself through that). They are the most terrible and hilarious subs of all time.

I have a DVD set with Hong Kong bootleg subs.

First half of Fruits Basket. Bought for butt cheap years ago at a Bullmoose Music.

They're so freaking horrible. I've seen the whole series, though, so I know what's going on. So half the time I just watch without the subs on. But if I need a good laugh...they're always right there X3

I usually have good luck with fansubs.
When I look into getting anime fansubs, I look at several different sellers before making a decision.
I stay away from the ones that have Malaysian subs as well, since they're usually the worse, and it's worth it to pay more for ones with Yuurisan or Shuri-something subs.

I did end up with the first season of D.Gray-Man fansubbed, and my brother and I were laughing over the bad spelling and grammar. Even the names were different. Like Timcampy was Dimby and Allen was Hoga.

I bought the full series from a seller on ioffer and they are SO much better.
(Now to sell the other one...)

The .Hack had a karaoke opening i think,it sounded just like the song in the anime.Do they actually sing it that perfect or am i misunderstanding the karaoke with that? I've only noticed the fansub difference with this one like i said so i never thought twice about it.
Moritani did you do a fansub before? I understand its free and heck i know i couldnt do that..first off i dont have the patience to try. Plus i dont know japanese that well,so those that do it can do it better than me Tongue

The subbed signs and stuff dont really bother me,something that is annoying that ive seen is the top line stuff that explain something like ''the translation of this word vould be spinach but it might mean turtle'' Im not sure if you have seen that but to me thats annoying. It is funny to see some random word that doesnt fit at all in the fansubbed sentance.
I'm glad ive seen the anime before though, otherwise i would be very confused in parts ^.^
