A panel about riddles
« on: July 15, 2010, 10:54:23 PM »
As some (none) of you may know, I'm going to be the Riddler next year at PortCon. I've had the idea bubbling around inside my brain for a few monthes, but I never really thought to ask the forums. How would PortCon feel about a panel based upon riddles? Solving them probably, with prizes!
TL;DR Hosting a panel about riddles with prizes

I wouldn't mind, though I must wonder... how are you going to get enough riddles to encompass at least a full hour? Especially if you get someone who can answer each riddle on the fly? On a side note, how would you prevent people from forcing your supply of riddles from running dry?

But yeah. So long as it wouldn't run into any of my "Must Attend" events, I'd definitely attend and participate.

You could always have a rule where if you've heard the riddle before and know the answer already, you have to wait until everyone else gives up. It wouldn't be enforceable, but hopefully people won't be jerks. I think this is a cool and unique idea for a panel. If you looked online, I bet you could find a pretty large number of riddles to use. And not just regular riddles, but other types of puzzles and brain-teasers as well. It sounds like a lot of fun!

I'm glad there's so much support for this. Over the next couple weeks I'm going to compile some riddles, and when I feel I have substantial material, I'll submit an application for it.

On a side note, you should totally call your panel "The E. Nigma Show" in reference to one of The Riddler's lines in the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game.

Maybe, I'm not sure if everyone would get the reference/understand what the panel was about though. But it's certainly an idea, I hadn't given any thought to what I was actually going to call it.

or you could do like a scavenger thing that would last Friday and Saturday of Portcon with one riddle pointing you to the next riddle. Then for the actual panel have it be like broadcast to batman with riddles through out the hour and announcement of the winner.

Actually it's funny you say that, because that was one of the first things I thought of for this. The only flaws with that are that there's 2000 people, and most of them aren't afraid to just take things that are lying around.

My sister in law wants to be Harley Quinn too

Also I just have to say

''Riddle me this, riddle me that.Who's afraid of a big black bat''

''Maybe if we're together you'll get to see me graduate''
''If? I would love that'' <3

I want you to be happy, for the rest of your life.- Kairi Okayasu
