Fur Suiter
« on: June 29, 2010, 05:11:23 AM »
I know a bunch of people took pics of me, even though I only suited for a little bit. It gets hot in there, other wise I'd have suited more. And man did people like getting hugs. OH also if you want to know where I got my parts from send me a PM, I'd be glad to send you in the right direction.

I remember you! I had no idea what sort of animal you were, so I kept hopping over in my samurai attire and looking at you before asking for a hug! You were seriously awesome!

I think I sold Ramune to you when I was working Con Sales. Either way, I'd never actually seen a legitimate fursuit in real life, so I was rather impressed.

To my memory, I've never seen another fursuit other than the one this portcon. So either I never saw him, his fursuit wasn't all that memorable, or someone erased my memory of the events.

Jag has a fursuit? Didn't think he did. Anyway yea I was wandering around after Artist Alley when I could leave my table. Sadly Anthrocon was also the same days *Shakes fist* I think it's happening again next year. So I'll have to try to represent again. Hopefully I can suit for longer. It was fun ^-^

I remember the starfox one from 08! :D

I didn't have much of a fursuit. Just ears and a tail. I also need to save up for a contact to match my character's heterochromia. :o

The lady who made the "PortCon Memories" collage that was behind InfoDesk said her son had a fursuit. He wore it around for a little bit, and apparently somebody gave him a hard time about it so he didn't want to wear it anymore. I think he was a black-and-neon-green dog?

It seems like she and her son didn't understand all of the bad rap that fursuits have received over the years. I told her that some people just don't understand, and that her son shouldn't have had to put up with that kind harassment. Poor kid!

Yeah... I sensed a lot of caution about it from those two, myself. I mean I personally didn't mind. In fact, I can only admire someone for wearing something like that because 1.) It's typically more complex in design than a typical cosplay and I wish I had the talent to make a regular cosplay, let alone a fursuit, and 2.) It was almost the end of freaking June. There was no way I could survive in something like that for more than five minutes.

Yea I chatted with them, and I to did deal with some people who just didn't get it. Group of teens came up to me like everyone else did, wanting hugs. Then proceeded to jab me in the eye, grabbed a hold of my muzzle open it wide enough so they could see in side (mind you its not a moving jaw, so it's not meant to do that.) Then when I was trying to walk away one of them bit me on the ear. My boyfriend did his best to keep them off, but they would not listen. Now I didn't make the parts, I have no talent for that. But the head alone cost me $600, and it's one of a kind. So when my boyfriend pulls your hand away, and you proceed to ask me if my eye is really there, then jab at it, it's not funny. This is only my second time suiting, and first time suiting outside a furry con, so I'm still learning.

I think people really just don't understand, and most furries are scared to suit because of the bad rap. I figure, no one's going to understand unless you show them that not all furries are bad. Someones got to start proving that. I think next year since Anthrocon is YET AGAIN on the same days as Portcon, I'll be doing a furry panel, if Jag decides to go there instead.

All in all people were good to me, they just wanted hugs, pictures or where I got my parts from. Did get asked that age old question, if I wanted to (you know the word)... I'm happy to say I wasn't the only one shaking my head in dismay.
