!!Geek Triathlon +1!!
« on: June 06, 2010, 07:38:34 PM »
As PortCon approaches, we have put the finishing touches on the Penultimate test of geekdom: The Geek Triathlon +1.

Simply put, it is a series of contests that will pit you and five other hopefuls against three (or more) areas of geek combat, primarily Video Games, RPGs, and TCGs, and/or More!

No trivia, just tests of your geek skills.

Up to the challenge?

Are we talking Pen & Paper RPGs? Because I would love a competition where I can work with my M:tG and D&D skills! ^.^

Sounds interesting to me, it is just that I am only knowledgeable two of the listed suggestions.

Not a prob though, put me down for this! :-D

Pen and Paper all the way, my friend. And don't worry about being knowledgeable, skill, random chance, and fortitude gets you points here.

Sounds very nice! I'd definitely be in for something like this. However, depending on the TCG, I may or may not be able to partake in events due to lack of material, notably seeing as I don't play M:tG, but I'm a Yugioh TCG veteran.

Could you elaborate more on these various events and any preparation that may or may not be needed?

Hate to see anybody not play just because they lack materials, if you'd like, I can lend you a respectable deck to use ^.^

We will be providing all materials for the competitions, you need not worry yourselves with bringing gear, or even knowing proper rules or etiquette.  :Ragabash:

Have you guys determined which games you'll be using for this Triathalon?

Halo / Magic / D&D?
Brawl / Yugioh / Cortex?
Naruto Wii / Pokemon / BESM?

I can't say up front what games we're providing. They are all well known, and certainly within the realm of expertise for many a geek. Can't give you genre on the video game either, you'll just have to find out.

Ah if only fantasy and sci fi universes were included in this... that seems to be my forte... When/where will it be?

But fantasy and Sci-Fi are included, as they are geek by nature.

This shindig will be held from 1-2PM Fridee in the Whaleback panel room. We hope to see you all there.
