I love the 80s: Geek Edition
« on: May 04, 2010, 07:44:49 PM »
Basically gonna be talking about things that came out in the 80s that made it alittle easier to be a geek. Cellphones, anime, videogames and home computers.
Dear internet,
If I don't know you, we've never met face to face. I don't care what you think of me. Infact even if we've met face to face. Unless I want to date you I don't care what you think of me. So you can try to piss me off all you want just don't be offended when I just start laughing.

Sounds like a fun event to be at. I'll be there!

Question for discussion: Why is 1980's music considered to be bad when it gave us 3 of the greatest heavy metal albums ever?

Was it the politics of Reagan? Let's talk about it!

We should totally do this with a panel of "commentators", just like the actual series.

Although it camae out in the late 70s also gonna talk about DnD because it really came into it's own in the 80s. Did you know Vin Diesel and Chad Kroeger from Knickleback played DnD? In fact in XXX the name acrossed Vin's stomach was actually the name of his Elf Witchhunter.

Oh it will go on at 7 to 8 Thursday. I will talk about old school games and arcades. The one spot geeks could hang out without anyone making fun of them for who they are. Just for how crappy their game play is. I may not be all that old but I did live in most of the 80s.

Just downloaded a whole bunch of 80's pop. I'll have to play it before my panel, or if I find you hanging out during the weekend!

hrrm well the home computer did come out in the 80s. To answer a previously asked question. I believe 80s music is considered bad because that's when there where alot of one hit wonders coming out. Also that's when Techno was really starting to show up in underground clubs and it sounded aweful.
