Old School Pop Culture Table Top RPGs
« on: March 27, 2010, 04:33:41 PM »
i had a few Ideas for some Tabletop RPs based on some of our favorite Old Cartoons and such.  Wanted to get some feedback.  Here are some examples:

Transformers
Gargoyles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Serenity/Firefly(not a Cartoon but gorram shiney)
GhostBusters
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy(again, not a Cartoon but Zarkin' hoopy)
Sonic The Hedgehog (the GOOD cartoon not the Scratch and Grounder crap)
Kingdom Hearts (Dexie ran one recently)

Also, i've got a couple one shot atmosphere horror RPGs
SAW
Silent Hill
Circle You (based on a vocaloid AMV I saw once)

Lemme know what you think?

I love the idea of a not bad firefly game, an awesome hitchhiker's guide one would be great, gargoyles is great, maybe run a cthulhu based game (or other lovecraft) for your horror stuff. Still, great ideas! What system would you base them on?

There was a Mythos RP game in 2008 and it was phenomenal.  The GM did an amazing Job.

Running a game
« Reply #6 on: April 11, 2010, 01:41:49 PM »
Here is what I'm prepared to run

Gargoyles: Wings of Vengeance - after almost 20 years of peace and coexistence, a random string of Gargoyle murders, pinned on the long defunct Quarrymen threaten to encite a riot of the Gargoyles of New York.  Can the players stop the wave of vengeance and find out who's really behind the killing?

Transformers: The Second Coming of Megatron - a full century after the End of the Civil War, a mad cybertronian priest seeks to elevate his people to a racial monarchy over the universe.  To do that, he must resurrect the greatest villain in cybertronian History.  At the behest of the Prime, a group of young transformers must traverse the stars, fight off old Decepticons and thwart the Second Coming of Megatron.

Kingdom Hearts: Shadow Hearts - The improbable has happened: Sora has turned to Darkness.  King Mickey sends a small group of heroes to bring Sora in and find out the truth.  But, there is a different brand of magic at work here and a 'shadowy' new villain to battle.  And this time there are no Keyblades to save you

Ghost-Busters vs Cthluhu - The recently founded Massachusetts branch of Ghostbusters Inc has picked up a whopper of a first case.  take a comedic romp through HP Lovecraft's best works as your team tries to stop a Cult from awakening C'Thlulhu.

TMNT: Turtles Return - Based on Eastman and Laird's Orgininal works, a young group of mutants must seek out the greatest heroes of mutant kind to stop a new Shredder from using mutants as cannon fodder for a gang war that could tear New York apart!

Serenity: Final Flight of the Hammerhead - The brown coats are a musterin'.  Only months after Malcom Reynolds showed the Verse what happened on Miranda,  a collection of independent minded folk have gotten it in their heads to follow Mal's bad example:  They aim to misbehave.  And you're one of them.  In a rickety old flying piece of gossa you must get the final components to allow the New Browncoats to safely settle on the most dangerous planet in the 'Verse: Miranda.

Perpetual Thursday: A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Adventure:  The towel supply of the galaxy is dwindling, resulting in the deaths of countless Hitchhikers through out the universe.  As representatives of the Guide, you must solve this mystery or else the readership of the slightly cheaper and wildly inaccurate opponent to the Encyclopedia Galactica is doomed to extinction!  Don't forget your towel.

I approve and would love to play any/all of these

RPG's are easy, trust me.

If any one wants, I'll bring all of the games I suggested and run them with whomever wants to play.

But it looked like Gargoyles, TMNT, Hitchhiker's Guide and Transformers are in.

Kingdom Hearts and Serenity I'll bring along just in case.

Just a reminder that there is an open table for people to run RPGs of there choice. Just bring the stuff and come play :) Unfortunately, we can't fir everything on the schedule that people are interested in seeing :( There is just never enough time!!!
