PortConMaine Registration Art Book Open Call

Calling all artists!

The PortConMaine 2010 Registration book will be themed to look like a notebook (somewhat, not completely literally a notebook )- filled with all sorts of doodles as well as useful information like your schedule. If you would like to be a part of this year's booklet: send submissions of doodle type art work to info@portconmaine.com

Doodles MUST be clean (don't send something you just scan in), your own original art work (no copy written characters please! feel free to use our mascot though), and in full color OR black and white. By submitting your art you agree to it being used for PortConMaine Registration book purposes. Artists will be notified if their art is selected.

Topics can include: doodles of the mascots doing con related things, doodles of people doing con related things, doodles of people having fun at various events, etc. Keep it simple, keep it clean, and have fun! You can submit as much or as little as you'd like- just keep in mind email restrictions on data size (please don't email a GB. Please? )

All art must be sent by April 1st, 2010 for consideration. Anything after that will not be used.

Well, I'm making a few, but what file format did you want? I can easily make some .pngs if you want transparency and less compression, but .jpgs are smaller and whatnot.

PNGs or JPGs are fine. Any format really- I have all the tools needed to convert

(Really. I started drawing stuff. Figuring out a good solid design for a cartoon dragon is proving tough. I need to watch more 40's cartoons. Excellent design principles in there.)


EDIT: I know I asked somewhere before and cannot recall getting an answer on this. Is there any sort of design spec sheet for Ms. Portcon Mascot and her dragon? I mean, other that "She has pink hair and pointy ears, and the dragon is purple" are there other things to keep in mind? (hair length, eye color, distinctive markings... for some reason I recall her having a tattoo at one time?) Just checking.

Nah, we never made a design sheet because she changes based on who draws her for that year. So as long as she looks somewhat like herself, good to go! (Think Ororo from the x-men. LAWL)

You can use your own characters or the mascot. The only limitation is no copy written characters or fanart (so no Naruto characters, etc) Which isn't to say you couldn't draw someone in the likeness of... like a Naruto-themed ninja mascot or something.
