Fanfiction panel suggestions
« on: August 08, 2009, 01:24:44 PM »
After going to the fanfiction panel this past year, being a writer myself, I talked to some friends that had went and from their ideas, I came up with this idea of how to revamp the fanfic panel::

Older and more experienced writers (i'd love to be part of this) are set-up around the room like little stations. A group of 2-4 younger, newer writers or those looking to get into fanfic writing can sit with an individual and have a Q&A time.  During this time they can ask things like "how do you cope with writer's block?" or "where's a good place for new writers to start out?" "how do you get noticed?" "how do you get unstuck when working on a big project?" "how do you even begin to start writing?" and other related questions like that.

They could even bring in snippets of their work and get --constructive-- help from the elder writers. This isn't a time for them to go "omg help me with continuing my 19-chapter epic" it's a time for them to get help be it in grammer, storyboard, and figuring a style that's 'their' style.

I think a more individualized approach would be much more effective for a fanfiction panel. It would be a chance for those who have been at it for several years and know the ropes to help those just getting started or those who need a little nudge to fix problems that could be holding them back.

I like this idea. As a writer, I find myself serving as a Beta a lot. I would be interested in helping out with this panel.

Thanks <3 I think it could be a great panel with a different approach. I know alot of people who write/would like to but have no idea where to begin.

As the person who heads up the Fan fiction panel I can say this past year's was not my best. Things kind of fell apart near the end and the deal with the ending ceremonies scattered me all to heck.

Worth thinking about though.

Nobody said we couldn't have two panels on different days regarding fanfic.  Contact us when panels open for next year.

That might be a good idea. A workshop and a more traditional panel. Cover all the bases.

BTW: Anyone who has a Fic related questions or anything, You are welcome to give me a buzz.
