do you think I should call and ask ahead if a cosplay picnic would be ok?  Or should we just go for it.

As it's a public park, there's no need to call or ask for permission as long as we follow the rules: http://www.maine.gov/doc/parks/programs/parkrules.html .  It's OK to give them a call if you want to though.

Ferry beach is Nice! I went there on a school trip once when the place we were gonna go jipped us, and the place was really awesome just to have a nice picnic.

I think someone should arrange a little 'awards' Ceremony, for costumes at the picnic! Even if everyone gets something, it'd be great to get recognized for the work! I mean, nothing like skits or anything, but I mean, :D ... I just want a contest XD

I have to figure out what is going on with my son it's his birthday on the 27th two weeks from now is one of his parties but he has like four, I'm gonna have to ask the family about that.

Keep in mind of other gatherings going on like Maine Boffer Games is on the 8th/9th of August. If we can avoid that weekend I'm TOTALLY game!

And also there's a game on the 25th at crossroads that I guess people are planning on doing Werewolves.

But once I start beauty school, I wont be aloud to miss days during the week. When I miss a day, I've got to go in on weekends and make up hours duh to the fact I have to have a certain amount of hours to graduate.

mmm, how about a mini picnic in Greenville this month?  (that is, in addition to, not replacing, the main one near Portland, of course!)
