Portcon Rave 2009

Was a great time, as expected.  I handed out approx. 400 free glow sticks, lol.

Just a heads up, tho...next year you're gonna have to work for em   I've got plans brewing...PLANS!

"The Mick" on the forums is the DJ for the event. He comes up with the theme and all the music.

Was a GREAT Rave.  Also it was hands-down the most well-behaved in PCM history.

As a first time goer, this was probably my favorite part about PCM.

Though I did get bad cramps around 9:30ish due to overdancing and overwatering.

I was thinking it would be a cool event to have a DJ contest in the day and then let it go full blast at the rave ending event. It was surprised my first con, that the rave was actually pretty sweet.

Thats actually an extremely good idea!! I would totally be down with hitting the decks during the day... heck I did it enough in my hotel room

Lots and lots of expensive stuff is involved in the DJing. A contest might involve some complications.

Also, My arms still hurt, but I was able to successfully stay dancing on stage for the entire rave. (asside from 3 short. water breaks)

I had fun at this rave, unlike the past two PCM raves. Maybe it was just the atmosphere?

Usually, I'd be up after sitting out for a few minutes, but the pain in my side kept on coming back, so I had to leave early

I am sure we could do something to simplify things, like create mixes we could bring in or a set of tunes or something. Atleast keep it anime/gaming/rave themed. If anyone's interested we could probably get some people to discuss whats the easiest. It would be fun, at twilight DJ compt, and then winner gets to do partner with "The Mick" for the rest of the night or something along that.

The DJ is already set for 2010 (just like the con artist is, and the theme is, etc). Having a DJ competition would be kind of moot- Mick makes a great DJ and we're very lucky to have him. We're not going to do duel DJs and we probably won't ever have two raves (omg, twice the problems ONE rave causes? NO thank you)

Good job Mick, as always! The hundreds of people obviously had a blast, and every year it just gets better and better.
