You know, it would be pretty awesome if we could rent a couple old school arcade machines for the weekend. If the game room is in the same spot next year then there's tons of room for them. You could even fit four of them back to back in the center of the room. Could even leave the coin-op active to make a couple bucks for the con. Get some of the bigger ones like TMNT (either), Simpsons (either), or X-men/Avengers that can take four players at once. Someone should hook up an NES again so we can have another Duckhunt tournament like we used to have in the early PCMs.

Portcon security should be made to do G.I.Joe cosplay instead of the SWAT stuff a lot of them get decked out in. ;) Same basic idea, just more vintage.

I've got a few ideas for panels this year (though I've never hosted my own), one of which is very vintage. I'll have to act fast if I want to do it, but I think I should have a laptop to do it right, though I think if I made a DVD I could present it the same way...

Emerje

yes!  Old school arcade machines would be a great idea, especially if someone could get a MAME (Mulitple Arcade Machine Emulator) cabinet, a computer in an arcade cabinet with a bunch of playable arcade roms (roms are files that are the actual games themselves but played on an emulator, a software program that emulates arcade hardware).

And yes, the dance does need some 80s music. :)

I am always amazed at how quickly Portcon gets their site up.

80's dance? FUND IT.

OldSkool arcade machines? HELL YEAH. (4 player TMNT was win-- but we need some really old stuff like Pac Man, Galaga and Asteroids...)

I am feeling the urge to cosplay something old school next year. Only problem is that I fly to Portcon, and packing costumes is a pain.

I ALSO got a GREAT idea for a panel to do next year... and it would NOT have to be 21+!

based on the icons on the main page, and the ideas being tossed about, i think we'll be party-ing like it's 1989, bay-bee!  ^_^

and to offer, i've got the original dungens & dragons cartoon on dvd if'n you want a real trip back in time.  wow, man, just wow...

and let's not forget the first turtle movie.

it's almost mind-altering how epic next year could be...especially if it doesn't rain...

Yours still works?? I bought the Atari 80 games package for my PS2 and relive my youth that way. The PS controller is a little hard for some of the "paddle" games.
