2009 AMV contest awards and Feedback

Hey Everyone!

I want to say Thanks again to everyone who submitted videos. I have DVD's of teh contest for all of you, however i left them in my bookcase here at home. So if you want a copy and you submitted an AMV please PM me, and i can get it to you.

YAY my Far Away wasn't a failure.

I wasn't there on Sunday so I e-mailed my address.

I saw some of the AMVs and they were so great. :D I never get tired of watching AMVs. Haha.

I have a question, what kind of award is Con Chair Pick? Who's favourite is it? Or am I just misunderstood something?

Con Chair is Oriana here on the forums, she's the gal who throws this little shin-dig with some help from her friends.  She got to pick her favorite video from the lot and it was given an award

Yeah, I've got some feedback for you: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD please don't play the videos randomly next year! By the time I got the end of a category I long since forgot the other ones because I watched over a dozen other videos. Just play them in order from category to category. It's so hard to remember what the videos were when the first video and the last video is shown nearly two hours apart, I'm not even sure if I voted for the ones I liked or the ones I thought I liked. I heard a lot of people in the audience complaining about this.

Also would be nice if the footage fit the screen, at least the titles seemed to be cut off on the left side. At least put them dead center so they'll be easier to read, bottom left corner in small font was hard to read. More details on the ballot like the name of the song/artist and footage used ("Naruto", "Evangelion", "Various") would have been incredibly helpful as well.

this was my first time running the contest, so i wasnt sure how the videos should be arranged. I have definatly learned a lot this year, and due to much feedback that Jag gave me at con, I will make sure to rectify the chaoticness of it this year. for next year. so next year i will arrange teh videos by category, and i will add to teh ballot sheet more info.

Well I was talking about the AMV's with Todd a bit and about how the ordering could have gone and he suggested some things and so did I when were talking. One thing that was brought up by him though was when I told him it'd probably be best to stick all the same entries in a category together he stated that nobody really wants to watch 4-8 drama videos in a row and other such examples. So maybe there can be an easier way and such to go about things, like the first one from each category and then repeat.

Yeah, as long as the order of what's on screen matches what's on the paper, that should work.  (top half be the voting half and bottom half be the schedule, for example)

That might be a good idea...another idea would be a quick blurb on the ballot sheets, or a quick recap of videos in order of category after the initial showing...it would mean i would have to show less videos next year...i dont know if i will get as many though...i sooo hope i do
