My Board Game Schedule
« on: June 17, 2009, 08:09:44 AM »
Hey there. I'm Mike C. and though I've been to gaming cons before, this will be my first PortConMaine. I'll be running board games on Friday and Saturday;

On Friday, I'll be running Scattergories (new card game version) Outburst,  Wits and Wagers, Rorschach, The T-shirt Game and Mad Gab. Table 3.

Saturday, I'm running Yahtzee, Boggle, Super Scrabble (bigger board and 200 letters), Trivial Pursuit, Adversity and Don't Panic. Table 5.

Drop by and check them out. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

WOW! What a con. I had a fantastic time running my board games at PCM. All of my scheduled games except one got played, and the friendliness and good time made up for the awful weather outside. I met Jackie and her husband, and a lot of very nice people. I forgot to bring one game, but fortunately I had another one to substitute. Thanks to all who I met and played my games, Katherine, Jeremy, James, Mr. X, Britney, Justin, John, Mike, Heather, Carlton, Todd, Nate and anyone else I left out.

I was a little worried that I might not "fit in" with the PCM crowd, considering I'm from New York City, it was my first PCM and I'm over 40. Well my worries were put to rest once I started running games. Thanls to everyone involved in PCM. I had a great time, and If I can swing it financially, I will return next year.

Gamefully

Mike C.

You ran some excellent games! I enjoyed them alot and I especially liked how you tried to keep things fair and annoying little girls at arms length...OH! And all the old school references...(It made me feel much less old!).

Well, on Sunday, the age thing came into play a little. I joined in a game of Smart "Rear End" and this one girl was saying 30 is so old. I kept my mouth shut. Then in the course of this trivia game, upon finding out Johnny Depp was born in 1963, she said "My God he's so old." I guess by her standards, I'm an antique  :eyeroll:

After I guessed a few answers, they asked how old I was. I answered "7 in dog years." But it was all in good fun. Got in another game of Rorschach in too. Great way to top off the weekend before heading back home to NYC.

Hey thanks, but you know as soon as I got back home I was promptly trounced by my mother. I shall have to carry my victory with me to make me feel better. :Drop:

I was shocked that so many people didn't know who Dustin Hoffin was...and I find it so vexing that many younger people don't seem to care about cool stuff that came before them. I mean I am almost 30 but I love Singing in the Rain, Gene Kelly, Abbot & Costello,  musicals, eroyl Flynn, and music to at least the 20s....

I thought I was born in the wrong generation for a long time....then the internet came along and I learned I was just a different type of nerd and it became easier to meet up with others and spread the word of awesome things.

QFT - to clarify, Quoted For Truth.

Oh, so you were there for that game! Sorry, so many people, it's hard to remember. Yeah, it's a good thing I didn't bring my music trivia board game "For The Record" about music from the 50s through the 70s. You and I would've cleaned up, Summer.  :-D

Errol Flynn - the original Robin Hood in the movies. Now there's a time warp. You and I will feel right at home next year with the "old school" theme, and I just might bring that music trivia game.  :ThumbUp:
