I'm thinking they are trying to recap the events of the 1st Anime series for potential new fans without boring the old fans and adding in the Manga storyline. IMO they are doing a great job with it and I for one love the newer look and the faster pace.

I love it too. I hope they do include more manga storyline that they cut from the original anime.

Its in general more humor filled than the first attempt at the anime, but for christ's sake, its moving at a much too fast pace. I mean I know the creators are eager to get to the new content, but slow down! You can ruin parts of the plot by trying to cram large parts of it into one episode. Lets look at a big mac in comparison. Sure its big juicy and full of what everyone wants, but because its so packed tight with so much crap in it, it can kill you with a heart attack! The producers are trying to shove too much plot down our throats at one time. There's too much plot on our plate of what to eat each episode. I'm sure this phase of the serries will end when the new content appears, but christ if I wasn't such a fan of FMA to start out with and didn't know the plot already, I probably would have given up because its going to fast, and yes there are animes out there like that. Come to think of it, maybe its just because I feel so much joy in watching its opening each time and then waiting in suspense to watch the ending each episode after episode until the new stuff is finally released, which will take longer than we all will think it will. Heh... oops I've ranted on again. Not that a lot of people actually read what I post, but heh...

I just watched the seven episodes up on Hulu because of this thread, and I really like it so far. I like how the art style more resembles the manga (Lust, in particular, comes to mind). I haven't felt rushed at all, but I do see how it's moving faster. I agree with QueenDuranie's thoughts on that.

I just can't wait for the "new" manga stuff! *excited*

I watched up to episode 8, and I really like it. I mean, I HATE FMA. but this new series... It's improved a lot from the series. Mainly, the animation isn't jumpy like it used to be.

In the idea of 'The art style' It really looks the same to me..
Gettin' too old for this.

Well, they are nearly identical, but there are just some slight differences in the way the characters drawn that reminds me more of the manga. I can't really explain it. *shrug*

Brotherhood seems to be doing two episodes per each manga volume, so to me it's going a little fast, but it doesn't have those fillers that the original did. I am interested in watching it for mainly the Briggs area. :P
