I think you should have a strict no alcohol policy.

We do.  We're not talking about drunks, or rather not just drunks, we're talking about rowdy attendees, sober or otherwise.

Remember folks, if you see anyone doing some destructive or even questionably destructive report to con staff, preferably security staff immediately.  You're not snitching, you're protecting your con.

I understand, No one likes party crashers.
It's just like on a forum  if's you see a N00b acting up report them and wait for them to get banned.

Good analogy. I'd like to reiterate Rag's point that safety is everybody's concern. Don't feel at all intimidated approaching a member of staff with a potential issue. Vandalism? Report it. Drunk in public and acting obnoxious? Report it. General asshatery? Report it! Help us keep this event fun and safe for all of our attendees. Trust me when I say that staff will be grateful for any information you give us.

Yep!  Even though 99% of you guys are awesome, there's still the 1% that show up to cause trouble.  ...and with 1600 people, that 1% is 16 people (give or take).  Don't let those people ruin it for everyone else.

I hope people who make break the rules do get banned but what concerns me is the fact that I have made some people dislike me and some of the people are not  very mature and some are. My point is at this point I am more afraid of getting falsely reported for over something that I did to someone a year or two ago than something I did at a con.

That being said I also hope people don't take this as a way to try and hide the fact that I broke any rules at PC. I also hope if anyone sees me breaking the rules to tell me right away I only wish to have fun not ruin the best event of the year.

If someone does tells us you did something wrong we will talk to you about it.  We will treat all and any complains as serious but that doesn't mean you need to freak out if one of the staffers talk to you about something. Trust me we always try to be polite to everyone we talk to. For the people that may do something crazy or stupid and think it's no big deal it's just a con. A police officer may be there and can easily be called.
Dear internet,
If I don't know you, we've never met face to face. I don't care what you think of me. Infact even if we've met face to face. Unless I want to date you I don't care what you think of me. So you can try to piss me off all you want just don't be offended when I just start laughing.

It doesn't matter if you're liked or disliked.

It matters if you're breaking the rules.

If you have a party in your room and are getting drunk and obnoxious to those around you: you will get banned from the event.

If you break something, you will pay for it.

Popularity doesn't matter when it comes to common sense. Don't sleep on the couches instead of getting a hotel room. That's not common sense. Don't trip people in the hallways and expect to get away with it because it's fun. That's not common sense.

Etc.

What's worse: you getting banned or the convention getting banned from every hotel in the area?

I tend to think 2.

So yeah, if you're not popular I'd be on your best behavior so people don't tattle on you. (not that I look forward to the extreme tattlers) But even if you ARE popular we'll ban you if needed. We won't be mean, but it's pretty black and white when something happens that needs to be dealt with (by us or by police).

We need to continue to have a good event and a good relationship with our hotel/convention center.

Coincidentally, I moved to within walking distance of the Eastland after the con last year, just by chance. Was looking forward to walking to the con, but I've moved back to Biddo in the meantime, anyway, LOL. The Eastland was an OK place; it's too bad a few out of control people made a bad impression on them, but I'm looking forward to going back to the Wyndham this year. Hopefully people can keep the chaos quasi-controlled this year, and we will continue to have a good relationship with the Wyndham!

When I read that I just through of some guy coming from nowhere on a skateboard, chug a Mountain Dew and go "Someone make a dookie on the rug."  Never mind... I just thought I would share.

I second the motion that CatDancer brought up about the flyer. I figure only about 20-30% of the congoers visit the website and only about 5-10% actually use these forums. If the flyer is placed in with the goodie bag or whatever it's called, that would make about 90% of the people aware, the other 10% throwing away stuff they don't care about, including the rules. But that's still a good 90% of the congoers that would read it. Then if the staff working the registration desks took about five seconds extra with each registration, they could give these flyers to each congoer by hand, which would up the chances of people reading them by an additional 8%, meaning that, by Patrick's calculations, only about 32 people would actually completely miss the memo because of their own neglect.

We'll be doing something. Posters. Flyers. Something.

But the percent of people who attend these forums should help-- even if only 10 % of the con helped, it would be an extra 10 % who said "please don't do that."
