Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks announced
« on: March 25, 2009, 03:11:21 PM »
(come on, you ALL know that if it's a Zelda game, I know about it)

Well, they just announced the official: There will be a new Legend of Zelda game for the DS called Spirit Tracks. It's a sequel of Phantom Hourglass (which was also a sequel to Wind Waker), so there is more cel-shading. If you don't like the cell-shaded Zelda games, I am sorry.

What makes this game unique from all the rest? Instead of sailing the sea on a ship, the ships are replaced with....

Trains.

Yes, you heard me. TRAINS. and not just regular trains, no, these have cannons too.

I am not making this up. Here's the article http://ds.ign.com/articles/966/966163p1.html

This will be awesome if they take away the repetitive master dungeon you have to do 1,000,000 times over.

... Trains.

I read about this a while ago. I bought Phantom Hourglass and couldn't play it through, much like Windwaker. Games like A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, however... I ate those right up.

I'm hoping for another Wii Zelda soon, myself.

The train combat reminded me vaguely of an OLD dos game called Arctic Baron.

That was a fun but frustrating game..... which is how I describe most Zelda games, so this seems like a good fit.   :P

Sail boats!  Awesome!

Steam Ships!  Errrm okay, well it's a Zelda Game on the DS still cool!

Trains!  WTF!?  Just give it up and make it Steam Punk, or Zelda 2024.  Where's my swords and sorcery?  :(

.. I'm not gonna lie.

the last few Zeldas have been/ This one looks pretty damn Terrible.

I like, Hated Twilight Princess, and Minish Cap was enjoyable, but still kinda short.

I really haven't enjoyed a Zelda since Wind Waker/ Majora's Mask.

This is just Confirming how Nintendo is seriously just trying to push Shovelware labled with their name.

I'm really, really unimpressed.

I liked Twilight Princess but mostly for it's visual beauty. Majora's Mask is by far my favorite of the series.

Roxas, why didn't you like Twilight Princess?

I personally couldn't stand Windwaker, and it's not because of the cel-shading. I quit the game when it had me start the tedious task of retrieving Triforce shards from the ocean. The system for this was made so poorly that the task is actually painful, and by that point, I wasn't entirely sure that the game would reward me handsomely enough for my troubles. :P

Phantom Hourglass threw me off, too. I bought it, played it for a little bit, and decided that travel by boat was just too annoying to overlook. I guess I just hate me some boats. I will probably hate the train, too. Just give me mah darn hawrse!

I think Twilight Princess made up for that madness. I'm kind of gay for Imp Midna, too.

I actually think that Wind Waker was fantastic. And Phantom Hourglass was just as good. You guys just didn't like it cause you were bad at speed running the Master Dungeon  :Thbbbt: And this Train piece of awesome is going to be good too. So I hate all of you. Cause the only bad Zelda game has been Twilight Princess.

Watch yer language. ;) This is an all-ages forum. Thanks. - Arch

MM was better than OOT. It was complex and interesting. Wind Waker somewhat improved on this formula (minus the triforce shards) I was expecting a step up from this from the next 'console' game, and what I got was a dumbing down of Zelda. 'shake wildly to attack' and 'Run around until midna tells you EXACTLY what you need to do'. Sure. The game had side quests that were boring and uninteresting. Though I did like the Visual style (And Imp Midna), I thought the overall story was lame and the climax never really happened. the ending was predictable and the bosses/dungeons were really uninspired. Donno, I just didn't like it.

What Zelda ending isn't predictable?  :P Link saved him a princess! Woo! If there's a princess there, he'll save her. If there's no princess to save, he will find a princess to save (or two!). Even if she doesn't need savin'. He's... the princess saver.

I didn't get the "shake wildly to attack" aspect of Twilight Princess. I played it on Gamecube. I still haven't played the Wii version yet.

Majora's Mask was all in all a great game, but the timed formula that had you constantly starting from square-one was a little tedious at times. The Fierce Diety mask made the final boss a joke, which somehow managed to disappoint me.

I'm interested to hear everybody else's beef with Twilight Princess. I hear a lot of people ragging on it without any explanation, here and all over the Internet. :P

Same here.  Felt like a damned good Zelda game to me.  And damned pretty.  If I were a girl, I'd go gay for Midna also. ;)

I never finished OOT or even started Majora's Mask.  But the story in Twilight Princess felt pretty compelling for the 10th retelling. :P
